How
we Buried Puso
Author:
Morabo Morajele
'
Returning home to bury his brother after seven years abroad, the
narrator recalls their life with a grandmother and with an adopted
sister and stuttering friend, both come to escape the predatory
history of a particular corner of Africa.
How
we buried Puso is a lyrical account of veiled truths and panoramic
splendour where the true nature of change is revealed in a detailed
narrative collage that saturates the senses. Shifting masterfully
through post colonial identity, spirituality and Africanness, the
narrative’s wry observations and understated cynicism form an
extremely eloquent depiction of Lesotho’s recent history, which is
presented in a bravely graphic take on the “entire”.
This
is indeed a deeply thought novel rich in images and poetic
descriptions. Oh what a turn of phrase. Zakes Mda Thursday, 15 June 2006 @ 18H30
